Wildcard #1: A Poem Called 'Sign at the Door'
Wildcard #1:

Below is a personal piece I have written. This piece is a poem that I wrote in order to express the way I was feeling at the time. I was hurt in a relationship and writing this poem taught me that writing is a healthy, freeing, and motivating way to express yourself and organize your thoughts. I have continued to write poetry since I wrote this first poem. I learned that writing doesn't have to be just a chore. It can be a therapeutic place where you can always be open and honest all while creating something beautiful. Please feel free to read the poem below.

Guess my fair judgement forgot to leave a sign at the door.

Won't be the first time it failed to warn me before.

I can only pray you'll bite deep enough into my core to find the woman you love and adore.

Below is an attachment which includes one writing assignment from another curriculum course that showcases my writing skills in another discipline. This writing assignment is an annotated bibliography I completed for my public speaking class (COM 231-2B5) this semester. I developed a writing process to be able to tackle writing this kind of assignment. My writing process consisted of writing about each source using a system of splitting each source into six questions. The first two sentences, sentences 1 and 2, summarized the source and what the source contains. The next two sentences, sentences 3 and 4, reviewed the source. Then, the last two sentences, sentences 5 and 6, addressed reflecting on my findings in the source. In sentence five for each source, I addressed what information from the source I used in my speech. In sentence six for each source, I addressed how I used the information that I chose from the source in my speech. Writing assignments, annotated bibliographies included, can often be overwhelming, but this assignment shows how I have learned to section assignments off into smaller sections in order to stay focused, be the most productive, and not feel overwhelmed or  become confused. I will carry this important skill with me throughout the rest of my college career, in my future job as a social worker, and in my life in general.
